Dracula

School annual play

In Grade 11, I served as both lighting designer and board operator for my school’s production of Dracula.

I designed a full cue plot from scratch, building atmosphere through layered lighting effects; using color, contrast, and timing to heighten suspense and drive the emotional pacing of each scene. I took full responsibility for programming and running the board, wiring circuits, assigning DMX addresses, and adjusting angles and intensity during live rehearsals.

I climbed ladders to rehang lights, sketched cue charts in the margins of my script, and tested how a slow red fade could stretch a moment or how a sudden blackout could land a jump scare. Operating the board during the performances taught me to stay calm under pressure, anticipate issues before they happened, and trust the rhythm of the show.
